Overview

Founder Reality ("we", "us", or "our") operates founderreality.com and related services. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly:

  • Email address and signup labels — when you choose to subscribe to our newsletter. Tool signups also send labels identifying the tool and, where used, its result category to Kit; these labels can be associated with your email. Reading and exporting resources does not require an email.
  • Name, email, inquiry reason and message — when you submit the contact form
  • Usage data — analytics about pages and interactions; the storage settings described below depend on your cookie choice and the browser timezone

How We Use Your Information

  • To send you newsletters and updates (only if you subscribed)
  • Reading the book, using calculators and exporting guide worksheets does not require a subscription
  • To respond to messages you send through the contact form
  • To understand use of our website and tools under the analytics settings described below

Contact Form

When you submit a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, inquiry reason and message. The website passes these details to SendGrid to send a notification to the configured Founder Reality contact mailbox. The contact route does not write the message to an application database or subscribe you to a mailing list. Your message may remain in the email service and recipient mailbox; your address is supplied as the reply address.

Analytics & Cookies

We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site and improve the experience. Analytics and session-recording services can process page addresses, browser and device information, identifiers and interactions. We do not describe this information as guaranteed anonymous.

The current website estimates whether to show a cookie preference using your browser's timezone. For selected European, UK and Swiss timezones, analytics providers are not started until you accept. Timezone is an estimate and may differ from your location:

  • Essential only — we save your preference locally, disable Google collection and stop Clarity collection. Already loaded scripts may remain in the page; your preference applies to future collection.
  • Accept all — we allow analytics collection on eligible pages. Advertising storage and personalization remain denied.

For other browser timezones, analytics are enabled by default unless a saved Essential Only choice applies. A saved choice expires after one year. Use Cookie preferences here or in the footer to change your choice without clearing saved worksheets, calculator state or reading progress. The website does not start provider collection on tool, Adapt or Resources pages, the Markets money-flow exercise, protected previews, or pages containing a query string or fragment. Its application analytics events use page paths without query strings or fragments and omit reader email addresses and worksheet answers. These descriptions explain the current website behavior, not a determination of your legal jurisdiction.

Publication events distinguish opening an article from encountering one through continuous scrolling. We accept only fixed newsletter, X, LinkedIn or RSS campaign codes; arbitrary query values, subscriber identifiers and email addresses are not included in these events. Campaign codes and queued events remain in page memory and do not relax the collection limits above. Navigation across the provider boundary starts a fresh page and discards queued events, so these measurements do not capture every visit or tool interaction.

Third-Party Services

We use the following services:

  • Kit (ConvertKit) — for email subscriptions and newsletters
  • SendGrid — for transactional emails (contact form)
  • Google Analytics — for website analytics under the storage settings above
  • Microsoft Clarity — for session recordings and heatmaps under the settings above
  • Google Cloud Services — for hosting infrastructure

These providers process information needed for the functions described here, including contact delivery, email subscriptions, analytics and hosting. They operate their own services and retention policies.

AI-Generated Audio Content

Some blog posts on this site include an audio version generated using AI voice technology. These audio narrations are produced by an automated text-to-speech system that mimics the voice of George Pu. The audio is a synthesized reading of the written essay and is not a human recording.

The audio player stores your playback position in your browser's localStorage so you can resume listening where you left off. This data stays entirely on your device — it is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.

The player itself does not send your saved playback position or listening-duration events. Playing audio requests the audio file from its hosting service, which can receive ordinary request information such as an IP address. General page analytics may also apply.

Worksheets, calculators and reading progress

Guide worksheet answers remain in page memory until you copy or export them, reset the page or leave. Book and series progress is saved locally under book-progress. Cookie preferences changes only your analytics choice; it does not erase these answers or progress.

  • Severance Math, Geographic Arbitrage and the historical Career rubric: answers and results remain in page memory without this tool saving them to localStorage. Ordinary completion leaves the address clean. Default sharing opens the blank tool. An explicit personal-link option can include financial amounts, household choices or career answer codes; the on-page explanation lists the included values. Anyone with the link can read them, and opening it can leave them in browser history, hosting logs or a messaging service. Earlier answer-bearing links remain readable.
  • Work Changed, AI Workflow Cost, Revenue Concentration, Ownership Reflection, Sale Preparation and the Revenue-Multiple Scenario: worksheet state stays in page memory. Copying, exporting, printing or choosing a sharing action can disclose the selected content to its destination.
  • Observed Workflow Trials and Check This Work: practice records stay in page memory unless you explicitly enable device saving or export them. Device saving uses this browser profile's localStorage; anyone with access to the profile may read it. Restore or reset controls manage the saved copy. Exported or copied records can contain your entered text, so inspect them before sharing.
  • AI Work Assumptions Review, AI Work Exposure Review, Dependency, Freedom Number, Mobility, Pricing, Savings Target, Runway, SaaS, Structure Risk and VC vs Bootstrap: the original assessment paths save answers, progress or results in browser localStorage so they can resume. Subscription Reality Check also saves its assessment progress/results. Saved local state has no automatic expiry; use each tool's reset/start-over control or clear site storage to remove it. Clear site storage also removes reading progress and your analytics preference.

The worksheets do not require an account or an email submission. Optional newsletter and contact forms send the fields you submit; tool newsletter signups can also send labels identifying the tool source, result category or selected circumstances, but not full worksheet answer sets or raw financial amounts. A downloaded file, copied answer or shared image can contain personal values even when the page address is clean; inspect it before sending.

Your Rights

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link in any email. You can also contact us to request deletion of your data. If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under GDPR (or equivalent local legislation) including the right to access, rectify, and port your personal data.

Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
